The iconic exploration vessel Mythique of Alain Bombard La Coryphène with its moorage in Hyères
La Coryphène is a Ketch built in 1958 by the Costantini shipyard in La Trinité-sur-Mer according to plans by architect Louis Costantini.
Commissioned for scientific research campaigns by biologist Alain Bombard, it was, after eight years of research in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, converted in 1967 into a luxury pleasure yacht.
Over its sixty-eight years of existence, it has continuously sailed in the Atlantic (Portugal and Spain), in the western Mediterranean (Spain-Morocco-Balearic Islands-France-Italy).
It has undergone numerous maintenance and modernization works and several major refits.
It was distinguished at the Lisbon Universal Exposition in 1998 in the Belgium Pavilion among vessels recognized as worthy of representing the country.
It is currently moored at its home port of Hyères in France on the list of "remarkable vessels" and benefits from a privileged mooring position as such.
La Coryphène is registered with the French Association of Traditional Yachts (AFYT), it is properly measured and performs admirably in classic and traditional vessel regattas.
