The founding of Princess Yachts shipyard, one of the world leaders in luxury yachts

Princess shipyard was founded in 1965 by David King in Plymouth, England. The first models were 31- and 32-foot fiberglass fishing boats and motor yachts. The first Princess yacht, the Project 31, was launched in 1970. The brand quickly specialized in the construction of luxury yachts, developing a range from 39 to 130 feet.

The development of Princess shipyard in the 1990s

In 1994, Princess launched the V Class range with the V39 and the V52 – the first yacht equipped with electric engines in Europe. In 1995, the Princess 65 stood out for its elegant design and performance. In 1996, the Princess 20 Metre inaugurated the “Metre” series. In 1997, the Princess 72 offered great stability and generous living space.

Princess Yachts during the 2000s

In the early 2000s, Princess notably introduced the V65, the V62, the Princess 21M, 50, 85 Motor Yacht, V85, 95 Motor Yacht, and the 54. In 2006, a new production center opened at South Yard. In 2008, the V-Class range was expanded with sporty and dynamic models. In 2009, four new models were launched: V42, V56, V78, and Princess 78 Motor Yacht.

In 2010, Princess was certified RINA Green Plus (Y), becoming the first yacht builder in Europe to control its environmental impact across its entire V Class and flybridge range up to 24 meters.
