HARRAC — classic cruising sailing yacht, 13.70 m, wooden hull
There are boats you buy to sail, and others to set off on adventures. HARRAC is one of the latter. This custom-built wooden sailing yacht has already sailed the coasts of South America, ventured to Antarctica and leisured in the Mediterranean. Its long keel and laminated wooden hull give it the seaworthiness rarely found in production boats.
Two major refits, in 2007 and 2019, have brought it up to the standard of a modern cruising yacht. The electrical system was completely overhauled by a professional. The interior has been redesigned for living aboard, not just for vacation stays. Upholstery and bedding are new, with latex mattresses and durable fabrics. Lighting is LED and each cabin has its own 230 V outlet. Diesel heating circulates throughout the vessel.
Comfortable sleeping arrangements: a double cabin, a forward cabin with two berths, a pilot berth and a saloon bunk. The galley is equipped with a gas cooker with oven and grill and two refrigerators, one with a freezer. Hot and cold water are pressurized. For autonomy, 400 liters of fresh water, 200 liters of diesel fuel, a wind generator and a dedicated battery bank separate from the engine battery allow extended periods away from mooring posts.
The 75 hp Ford Mermaid engine has been serviced by professionals. On board, there is GPS, an AIS transceiver, a fixed VHF radio and an EPIRB beacon. There are two anchors, one new, on 60 m of chain, a dinghy with its engine and six self-inflating life jackets. A large custom winter cover spans the boat over both booms: you can work underneath in the dry, which makes all the difference when maintaining a wooden hull.
Eligible for the BIP label (Boat of Patrimonial Interest), HARRAC is a piece of navigating heritage. It is waiting for a crew to set sail again.
